- The Days in the Dioceses (DID) is a warm and welcoming prelude to the main World Youth Day (WYD) event in Seoul. It’s a special time where local dioceses, including the Catholic Archdiocese of Daegu, open their doors to young people from all over the world. Think of it as the "grand opening" of the WYD journey—a chance to introduce the world to the vibrant faith, deep traditions, and unique culture of the Korean Church and our local community. When and where will it take place? • Event: 2027 WYD Days in the Dioceses (DID) • Dates: July 29 (Thu) – August 2 (Mon), 2027 • Duration: 5 Days and 4 Nights • Location: Various local dioceses across Korea (including Daegu) This program will take place right before the main WYD Seoul event, providing a beautiful space for spiritual preparation and cultural exchange.
- Pilgrims will have the opportunity to experience the diverse culture, nature, history, religion, and heritage of our diocese. In particular, they will have the precious chance to stay in the homes of our parishioners through a homestay program, fostering meaningful exchanges with local families. There are no age restrictions for applying to host a homestay. The Catholic Archdiocese of Daegu plans to welcome approximately 7,000 young pilgrims to pray together, share cultures, and witness their faith, creating a time to encounter the living Christ. We expect the DID to bring great vitality to the youth ministry within our diocese.
- DID is a significant event within the grand vision of WYD, where our local churches welcome young people, introduce the diverse aspects of Korea, and mark the beginning of the entire WYD experience. At the same time, it is a vital process for renewing and revitalizing youth ministry within the Korean Church. If the entirety of WYD is a 'pastoral journey toward a youthful Church,' then DID provides the opportunity at the starting point of that journey for local churches to support the faith experience and spiritual growth of young people.
- Not at all! Although it's called 'World Youth Day,' anyone can participate regardless of their religion or age.The primary target audience is typically those aged 15 to 39 (Korean age), but it's truly a gathering for anyone with a youthful heart. Middle and high school students, people with disabilities, and even non-Catholics are all more than welcome! Please note that minors require parental consent. Registration is expected to open as early as June 1st, 2026.
